The first session was a great experience with Erwin. I learned some of his history with school and what he is interested in. However it was very difficult to understand him due to the fact that he is fluent in German. He seems very eager to learn english and how to use a computer. It seems that he is interested in learning how to use a computer. It seems that Erwin wants to learn how to relate his skills with a computer and apply them in the auto industry.

During my visit to the KCC I helped my student, Erwin write a cover letter. He has never used a computer before therefore his ability to work on a typed formatted document seemed to be a challenge. It helped to show him to how to save his work by writing out the steps. I hope that he can work on his cover letter on his own during the week. It helps to guide him with ideas to what he can say to further his carer once he leaves the correctional facility. I also think that he might need help furthering his ideas to why a cover letter is imprint when applying for a job. I am hoping that next week we can continue to edit the cover letter and he can learn how to use the flash-drive independently.

During my visit to the KCC I helped Erwin finish his cover letter. He seemed very pleased with being able to have letter that described his interests and how he worked hard to finish typing and continuing to edit it. He seemed to have difficultly with typing the letter on his own and making editing changes so Morgan and I typed some parts of let the letter for him. We explained the changes that needed to be made in order to make it grammatically correct. Overall I was very pleased with his work on the cover letter and his ability to finish the letter in a timely fashion. Hopefully Erwin learned the importance of writing a cover letter and why it is helpful to getting a job in the future. I think it is best to have Erwin hand write the things that he wants to say before hiaving him type it out because he still has a difficult time typing out thoughts.
